Chantix is a smoking cessation drug
Chantix is the most successful smoking cessation drug.
Drugs, such as a nicotine
replacement therapy product or Zyban
have been clinically proven to double a quitter's chances of stopping
successfully versus placebo. Chantix gives smokers a better chance
of success than Zyban. In clinical studies, Chantix helped more
smokers quit!
How is Chantix different from other smoking cessation products?
Chantix contains no nicotine, but it targets the same receptors
that nicotine does. To improve your chances for successful smoking
cessation, set a date to quit smoking. Start taking Chantix one
week before your planned quit date.
The effectiveness of Chantix in smoking cessation was demonstrated
in six clinical trials, which included a total of 3659 chronic cigarette
smokers who were treated with Chantix drug. The approved course
of Chantix treatment is 12 weeks. Patients who successfully quit
smoking during Chantix treatment may continue with an additional
12 weeks of Chantix treatment to further increase the likelihood
of long-term smoking cessation. Learn more about how
Chantix works.
Chantix has been proven to be more effective in helping smokers
quit than Zyban, the only other nonnicotine prescription medicine
for smoking cessation. In 2 independent studies, more smokers quit
with Chantix at the end of 12 weeks.

Some 'alternative' techniques which have been used for smoking
cessation are:
- Hypnosis
- Herbal
remedies such as NicoTonic
and Cig-Arette
- Nutritional nicotine detoxification
- Acupuncture
- Attending a self-help group such as Nicotine Anonymous.
- Laser therapy based on acupuncture principles but without the
needles.
- Fasting. Many people claim that quitting smoking is easier during
fasting.
Note: Taking Chantix and other smoking
cessation drugs at the same time has not been studied and is therefore
not recommended.
